Little specks of Joy

Huuumpph… Wow… Finally I get to write. I wish I had started with a better word though, I wonder if that’s a word actually! But have you noticed that this word..or whatever it is.. is most soothing and desirable to a person. And I, for one, have been longing to experience this…word :)

So…I am having a good time altogether, working at psst..top Foreign Investment Bank. Well, I do have my doubts and not-so-nice evenings, but its okay. As they say, No pain, No gain. I certainly don’t want this as a career. For the next 4-5 years(or more Baby..), I will be tethered to a desk 18 hrs a day(Again.. or more Baby..)!! I think it’s good only on a monthly basis. But it discounts the fact that I have to go back to the social sector…Tough choice! (another one of my dreams, we’ll talk about it later)

Hey what am I writing about? This is my first chance and I am writing about mundane things. I have been thinking about blogging since 2 yrs now. Believe me, if you are preparing for CAT..you can’t possibly get to do what you want. One year went preparing for CAT and the other at IIM A. It amuses me to think of the times when I thought that CAT was tough! Talk about IIM A, people!

Okay then..lets get to the point. What is it that I want to write about today? Music..? hmm..So far Away by Staind playing in the background is making me happy. Or about Happiness itself?? I AM happy. I am happy despite working 7 days a week for 18 hrs daily. Yeah Happiness, everybody is seeking happiness. The ones that pass days after days in the office or toil in the sun to make ends meet, to the ones who lazily pass time and have the luxury of party hopping day and night. People find happiness in work or in being able to sustain their families. At the end of everything, people want success, power, money, or whatever, to lead them to happiness. What’s sad is that it is very easy to miss happiness in the scheme of striving to attain happiness. Let’s not miss the little sparkling specks of happiness that lie around us unnoticed, waiting to be picked, experienced and shared.

Everyday I grumble about my cubicle being in a corner, but there is happiness right outside my window in the sprawling sea that sparkles in the sun. In the handsome boat that sails nonchalantly across the sea, playing with the waves and flirting with the breeze. In the sunlight that filters through the shades to comfort me from the icy AC. There is happiness in completing a tough piece for a colleague who can now go home and have dinner with his wife after days.

There is happiness in the see breeze which fiddles with your hair, In the chuckle of a girl walking with her guy along Marine drive, in the excitement of a kid chasing a bee/bug/whatever.. There is happiness around the guy selling numerous balloons, capturing all the colors of life with each balloon as he strolls away (I don’t know why but I always get happy to see all those balloons and I think I want them, too kiddish..eh?) In the confident man who has chosen to earn his livelihood serving head massages to people rather than engaging in any illegal activity. In gazing at the numerous lights that line the sea shore aptly called the Queen’s Necklace. There is happiness in every note of music, in every step of Dance. In being able to touch, feel, enjoy and see. In hearing Mom’s voice on phone, In finding a chocolate stacked away. There is happiness in being able to help, there is happiness in being helped. There is happiness in soaking the view outside your window, in the laughter of the kids playing across the road. There is happiness in watching the Taj and knowing you can win over terror, In feeling secure, In feeling belonged.

So people, there is happiness everywhere, just grab it at the first glance and enjoy!
